Ipri – Sirota One And Two In Division Player Of The Week Awards

Steven Ipri Named Bauer - NAHL South Division Star of the Week

 

For the second time in three weeks the Lone Star Brahmas landed two players in the BauerNAHL South Division Player of the Week awards.

After garnering Honorable Mention for the week of January 22, Steven Ipri took home the top spot as South Division Player of the Week for his efforts against the Topeka RoadRunners this past weekend. In game one, the Broadview Heights, OH native logged the only goal of the opening period as the Brahmas took a 1-0  lead into the first intermission. He would later add an assist on a Jon Russell power play goal in the third as Lone Star took a 4-2 win.

On Saturday night it was Ipri again with the lone tally of the opening 20 minutes of play. He would tack on a power play marker in the Brahmas five goal outburst in the second period then added as assist on a Justin Addamo goal early in the third.

Ipri logged a total of five points on 3G-2A in the series with three of the five coming in close game situations with the scored tied or within one goal. Ipri was also a +4 in the two game set. It was the second weekend series in a row where Ipri has recorded five points for the weekend. He now has 7G-6A in 10 games played since coming to Lone Star via trade on January 5.

Joining Ipri in the weekly awards was Czech defenseman Jakub Sirota who was named the South Division Second Star of the Week. Since returning from injury early in January, Sirota has points in seven straight games.

Friday night Sirota notched his first goal of the season with a second period power play blast from the point less than six minutes after Topeka had tied the score at one apiece.

In game two, Sirota came through with the Brahmas second goal of the night just as he had in game one. This time it came even strength just 24 seconds into the period. The goal would stand up as the eventual game winner. He would later log the primary assist on Ipri’s second period power play goal.

In total, Sirota put up three points on 2G-1A with two of the three coming in close game situations.  He was also a +2 in the series. The native of Prerov Czech Republic has accumulated 10 points on 2G-8A in 12 games played with Lone Star.
