Brahmas Fall To Pilots – Pick Up Point

Photo courtesy of Rebekah Bing Photography: Andrew DeCarlo had the Lone Star Brahmas only goal as they dropped a 2-1 OT decision to the Topeka Pilots.

The Lone Star Brahmas opened a two game set against the Topeka Pilots at the Kansas Expo Center on Friday night. After splitting a pair of game with division leading Amarillo last weekend, the trip to Kansas meant that the Brahmas would play four straight against the top two teams in the division.

Topeka would score first with newly acquired Connor Zilisch sneaking one past Harrison Feeney at the 6:32 mark of the fist. Assists on the goal were credited to Michael Muschitiello and Austin McCarthy. Zilisch was playing in his first game with Topeka since coming over in a trade from the Chippewa Steel.

Andrew DeCarlo worked his way to the net and forced the puck past Emil Gransoe at 2:58 of the second to knot the score at 1-1 where it would stay through the end of regulation. The goal was DeCarlo’s first of the season. Blake Evennou picked up his sixth point of the season and Noah Roofe logged his second point in three games since coming over in a trade from Corpus Christi.

Muschitiello netted the game winner 52 seconds into the extra frame to hand the win to the Pilots.

Shots on goal were even at 33 apiece and the Brahmas were scoreless on the only power play of the game.
