Sam Brennan was named Bauer Hockey NAHL Defenseman of the Month. This marks the second time in as many months that a Lone Star Brahmas defenseman has received the award. Matthew Rickard was recognized by the league for his September performance and Brennan had as productive a month in October.

The Brighton, MI native who has a NCAA D-I commitment to Air Force has already more than doubled his offensive output from last season in only 18 games played. He is currently tied for 4th in the league in scoring among defensemen and leads blueliners in goals scored with six. Five of his 13 points on the season have come on the power play.

Sam started the month off on a high note scoring the game winner in the first period against the visiting New Mexico Ice Wolves. He followed that up with the primary assist on Michal Stinil’s insurance goal in the second. The following night he had a goal and assist in the third as the Brahmas complete the sweep of New Mexico.

The following weekend Lone Star was on the road in Amarillo Brennan scored the Brahmas only goal in a 2-1 loss to the Bulls.

His second power play point of the month came via a primary assist on a Stinil goal in the second period on the road in New Mexico.

In the Brahmas three game sweep of the Jackalopes to close out the month of October, Sam picked up a primary assist on a Matt Guerra goal in game one. After failing to record a point in game two, he came back with a first period goal to pull Lone Star even after they saw Odessa go up 1-0 early.

In all Brennan put up 4G-4A and a +2 rating and one game winning goal during the month. Five of his eight points came in pressure situations with the scored tied or within one goal.
